Cutting & Timing

andreliem

This is a great drill for teams of all skill levels. It focuses on basic cutting and timing your throws. It's also a very good warm up drill for the team. Two lines face each other with a stack of frisbees at the front of each stack. One line starts by cutting back, then in to receive a catch. Repeat from the other side, cycle through and repeat. The purpose is to work on cutting, and for the thrower to time their throws. Alternative more intermediate version is to add a defensive marker on the disc, either a designated marker or the person who becomes the next cutter.

Break laser drill

Bemben

In this variation, the stack is set on the break side, pulling defenders away from the open side of the field. This clears space for the offside (break side) handler to attack upfield into the open side for a goal. RESET: If the strike cut is looked off, they will cycle back into the vert stack, and the 1st cutter will come back to fill in for the handle, while the center handle utilizes the cake cut to move the disc. This can repeat or flow into standard vert stack. Maximizes Space: By putting the stack on the break side, you maximize the cutting lane on the open side which is easier to hit and more comfortable for many throwers. Quick Score: The throw is high percentage and fast, no need for complex handler resets or timing-dependent cutter motion.
