What is Playspedia?
Playspedia is a web app for coaches and players to draw animated sports plays, organise them into playbooks, and run a team on game day. It is made by Midstride and lives at playspedia.com.
Which sports does Playspedia support?
Ultimate frisbee, soccer, American football, hockey, tennis and pickleball. Each sport has its own playing area templates and its own default stats.
What is the Playmaker?
The Playmaker is the play editor. You place players and the ball on a real field or court, draw routes, and build the play step by step. Playspedia turns the steps into an animation that players can watch, and any step can branch into alternate scenarios.
What is a playbook?
A playbook is a collection of plays grouped for a purpose such as drills, a tournament, or a season. Playbooks can be private or shared with a link.
What team management does Playspedia offer?
Teams let a coach keep a roster (players are added by name, no accounts needed), schedule games, and run game day from a phone: attendance, live score, per-player stats by tap, lines for shift sports like ultimate and hockey, subs and a bench for sports like soccer, shift counts, notes, and the plays chosen for that game. A stats page shows season totals and per-game box scores.
Is Playspedia free?
Yes. The free Rookie plan includes one public play, one team with up to ten players, and full game day. Paid plans are Captain at $2.99 per month and Coach at $9.99 per month, adding private plays, more steps, playbooks, unlimited teams and players, custom team stats and season reports, and embedding. A Coach Pro plan with AI play generation is planned.
Can plays be printed or shared?
Yes. Every play has a link; members can embed plays on their own site; and any play prints cleanly with one step per panel for clipboards and binders.
Who is Playspedia for?
Youth and recreational coaches, club captains, PE teachers, and players who want to learn a system. It is designed to be simple to start: a team can be created in under a minute and used on the sideline with one thumb.
