Drills
Vert Stack Cutter Continuations
HorsleykcpGoal: To develop our timing and anticipation with our back of stack cutting Drill Set-Up: Player 7 starts the drill as our designated thrower on Cone A. They will be throwing to players who start at Cone B (which represents the Front of Stack). After receiving the disc, players from Cone B will look downfield for a continuation throw to cutters from the Back of Stack (Cone C). Coaching Points: The 1st few times through, defense should be playing @ 75%. Defenders guarding the Front and Back of Stack should shade one way (ie. Front of Stack defenders should shade to take away the Force or Break side, Back of Stack defenders should shade to take away the Deep or Under). The final few times through defenders should still shade, but be playing closer to 100%
Offense
Vert Handler Movement (Sideline)
HorsleykcpGoal: To move the disc from a static handler to one in motion. If motion is to the force side we want to to put them in power position. If motion is to the breakside we want the handler to receive the disc travelling horizontally or slightly upfield. Scenario: The disc is on the sideline and we are looking to reset to either the front of stack or the dump handler. This could be from a dead disc (Turnover) or as a reset option if downfield cutting isn't getting open. Context: If coming in on a dead disc, defense will be set and likely ready to defend back of stack cutting. If stall count is risen (3+) we need to reset the stall count. Our goal is to put the disc in a more favorable position than it is currently to set up easy completions.
Offense
Vert Handler Movement (Centered)
HorsleykcpGoal: To move the disc from a static handler to one in motion. If motion is to the force side we want to to put them in power position. If motion is to the breakside we want the handler to receive the disc travelling horizontally or slightly upfield. Scenario: The disc is in the center of the field and we are looking to reset to either the front of stack or the dump handler. This could be from a dead disc (think OB pull, Turnover) or as a reset option if downfield cutting isn't getting open. Context: If coming in on a dead disc, defense will be set and likely ready to defend back of stack cutting. If stall count is risen (4+) we need to reset the stall count. Our goal is to put the disc in a more favorable position than it is currently to set up easy completions.
