Offense
Naranjo Algorithm 4v4 Initiation Cut
ccowpersThis is an initiation play we can use to start movement on the field. After the initiation cut we will move into flow using these principles when possible: 1. Move the disc early and often to keep the defense on their heels. Fast-paced flow has no set cutting system. Just cut opportunistically to open space. Little passes to open players are great. 2. If our O slows down and the disc is being held for 3 stalls or more, a breakside player will generally initiate cuts (e.g., dump or downfield cutter; keep your head up to avoid cluster fucks). 3. If someone has initiated a cut toward you, clear downfield or to the opposite side of the field - wherever there is 'green space'. 4. We will aim to be the fastest subbing team in the league. Get on, do something cool, get off. You shouldn't be tired when you come off if you're doing this right. Our mantra here is to keep everyone engaged / warm and 'in the game' -- keeping us feeling fresh and fast. Feels too soon to sub? Do it anyway.
Offense
Handler Cut & Swing - Break Side | Dump (Continuation)
pioneers1Handler cutting drill focusing on how to get the disc off the sideline and center it in two throws. Focuses on the center handler charging to an attack point towards the handler with the disc and then looking for a dump, while the dead side handler comes in to fill the center and gets the swing. With the final throw, the play is reset and functions as a continuation drill, as the handlers can continue the drill, working their way up the field using the same cut sequence.
Offense
Handler Cut & Swing - Break Side | Up Line (Continuation)
pioneers1Handler cutting drill focusing on how to get the disc off the sideline and center it in two throws. Focuses on the center handler charging to an attack point towards the handler with the disc and then striking short up line, while the dead side handler comes in to fill the center and gets the swing.
Defense
Strawberry
CoreyA different zone that forces middle and puts more pressure on the long throws.
Defense
Fruit Bowl
CoreyA standard zone defence to use in windy conditions or against teams who are less confident in handling or struggle to get long throws off.
Offense
Papaya
CoreyA play to generate passes and movement when the disc is on the side line. Handlers initiate the play by calling 'papaya'. The dump handler looks to get a quick lateral pass once the disc is live or make a cut up the side line. The front of stack is the papaya who provides a fill cut to get a lateral pass if the dump handler can't get the disc.
