Double disc court (simplified)

sauka

Rules: 1. Two goal-zones 13x13m and 17 between zones; 2. Teams score by landing a disc in the opponent's court, forcing the opponent to throw out of bounds (1 point), or causing the opposing team to touch both discs at the same time (2 points); 3. Players must throw from the exact spot where they caught the disc. No running steps are permitted while holding the disc; 4. When a team is attacked with both discs heading into their court at once, one player will "tip" (tap upward) the first disc to keep it in the air, allowing their teammate to quickly catch and throw the second disc. 5. game is until 21 or 10 minutes

Box

Drills

Dump cut with choice

sauka

Cutting/marking drill simulating dump getting open. Cone 15 is dump position. Cone 16 is a handler. Focus: 1. Dump - having a good fake and timing for the main cut; 2. Marker - positioning/prioritizing what to cover and footwork/bodywork when stepping back

Drills

Pass to closed side

sauka

The drill is simulating moves and passes of a handler and 2 cutters in Ho stack, when cutters take opposite directions and receiver do a fast pass back to a handler. Handler can pick how's a short and who's a long cutter. Focus: 1. Handler - quick give-and-go in the first phase and receive-and-pass in the second. In the real game it is crucial to maintain a fast flow for passing into the closed side 2. First (short) cutter - fast but comfortable give-back pass to the handler 3. Second (long) cutter: - full speed 7-cut aiming to get the disc on the "closed" side or at least in the center of the field; - footwork when changing directions

Drills

Long cut throwing drill

sauka

At least 5 players should be doing this drill. Pace - fast Focus: 1. Handler - comfortable for receiving passes, e.g. outside-in 2. Cutter - top speed acceleration both for fake and long cut

Drills

Marking reaction drill - two cuts

sauka

Red is a cutter, blue is a marker. The cutter can make 1 step fake. After starting running either way, the cutter can change the direction at any point, but only once.

Drills

Marking reaction drill - one cut

sauka

Red is a cutter, blue is a marker. The cutter can make 1 step fake. Then, once direction has been chosen, (s)he is running straight to either of cone 15 or 17

Drills

Diagonal box footwork

sauka

Footwork drill for changing directions.Footwork drill for changing directions.

Drills

Straight box footwork

sauka

Footwork drill for changing directions. For moving sideways there're 2 variations: Variation #1: going side steps Variation #2: going crossing steps

Drills

Cut-mark drill

sauka

The idea of the drill is to train cuts. On the other hand - to train marking. Fake cut made by the cutter should be with a real effort to make the marker believe. There's no limits where to change the direction inside the drill zone. Drill zone is a rectangle 20x10m. Red is a cutter, blue is a marker.

Drills

Handler - cutter rotation with markers

sauka

Drill for training small-ball between handler and cutter getting the disc . In a game the idea would be to confuse markers by catch-give-go and get an opportunity to get into the closed side. Reds are attacking. Force backhand.
