Offense

Power positions

pacothepackintaco

Power positions occur when a player catches the disc with forward (attacking) momentum, with their defender behind them unable to stop a big huck. Power positions in a vert stack NEED deep continuations for the vert stack to be as lethal as possible. In principle it does not matter much who provides the deep continuation, but it should be the deepest player to avoid potential pick calls.

Offense

Handler filling in ho-stack

pacothepackintaco

When a cutter receives the disc, we want one of the handlers to fill in as a cutter to keep our ho-stack shape. This should be the handler furthest from the disc and the active cutters.

Offense

Cutter activation on disc movement

pacothepackintaco

Every time the disc moves we want a new cutter to become active and one of the previously active cutters to become inactive. This happens every time the disc makes any ground left or right.

Offense

Sideline ho-stack cutting adjustment

pacothepackintaco

When the disc is all the way on the sideline, the thrower can no longer bisect the throwers in a flat ho-stack setup. The active cutters can therefore angle their diamond cutting away from the sideline to make the throwers life a bit easier.

Offense

Leaving space in ho-stack

pacothepackintaco

Having our cutters set up tighter than necessary in a horizontal stack removes space for the 2 active cutters and allows defense more opportunities to poach off and get blocks. We want the non-active cutters to push all the way out to the sidelines when we are playing against match-defense.
