Goal is for defense to shut down force side throws. Defensive plays can choose to take away deeps and pursue hard on the unders or take away unders and pursue hard on deeps. The goal is to CONTEST the pass somehow. If you give unders, need to see bids. If you give up deeps, need to see you get in position and contest the huck. What we can't give up is EASY force side throws. Here 2 is taking away deeps and 4 is taking away unders.
Offensive players test positioning of defenders and try to beat them the way they are holding. Remember this is a DEFENSIVE drill. The offense is not trying to win. They are letting the defense work on holding position by testing that positioning.
2 comes in. 4 goes out. Defenders contest the throw. Again, 2 should lay out here. Honestly, I don't even care if you don't think you can get it. I want us to just get our layouts going at this point.
Cutters go into line opposite of where they were at. Mark works into cutter line.
Same drill. Both defenders guarded unders. Cutters push hard to break through.
Defenders contest the outs.
Cutters cycle in. Rinse. Repeat.
