Step by step 8 steps
  1. Step 1

set up as shown. forcing straight up when the disc is in the middle of the pitch. player 2 (chase, rabbit) forces straight up when the disc is in the middle of the pitch and towards the nearest sideline when on the line. Players 1 (right shoulder) and player 3 (left shoulder) stand behind player 2, clogging the lanes and forcing passes towards the sideline. Players 1 and 3 move in to stop crashes. force them to swing or give them short sideline gains. Player 4, the mid, should almost be making a diamond shape with the arrow head. Try and identify possible break throws from the handlers and look out for players with a good hammer as you made need to drop back but usually I like to squeeze up! especially lookin out for those IO passes to the middle. good layout opportunities! the objective is to get them to the sideline and trap them forcing a turnover. The wings, players 5 and 6 need to threaten big swing but not over commit. Let them swing but don't let them gain yards. Player 7 has to be owning everything deep. get your best deep player on the case. with the straight up force and no clear lane, hucking should be difficult. 1,2 and 3 do a lot of running so get those fit players on it. this zone is best used if it is very windy or if you are winning a game and want to slow down play.

  2. Step 2

as the disc moves towards the sideline the arrow head starts to point towards that sideline.

  3. Step 3

LINE TRAP!!!! When that disc is on the line everyone calls trap and makes it incredibly difficult for anyone to try and get off the line. I say this with caution because it's really important you identify the weak and strong throwers on the opposition team. If there best handler is on the disc stand off him a bit. Allow players to crash the zone and protect up field. Try and get a weak thrower on the line and then really trap them. Make it difficult for them and you will get turns. Player 2 is now forcing upfield, taking away an easy dump or swing. 1 stops all upline cuts blocking up field. 3 is looking to poach any dumps. 4 squeezes right in stopping IO's also calls crash if players charge in looking for a pop dump. allowing for players 1 or 3 to follow a cut in. Its almost like having a four man cup on the side line. 6 stops outside in mid length up field passes. 5 is looking to stop any hammers or cross field brakes, has to poach well. 7 is owning deep again. you are likely to get some stall 9 hucks here. In order for them to get off the line they are gonna have to preform some tasty break pass.

  4. Step 4

If they brake the line trap you can end up playing catch up for a bit. if a break is made sprint like fuck to get back in position. Its really important that the mid and nearest shoulder mark get over to the other side of the pitch asap. It's up to them to clog the lanes until the mark and other shoulder get back in position. Shoulders should never rush up to mark the disc when a big swing happens (common mistake). Drop off and shut down the next pass until the mark is on the disc. a shoulder putting on a mark will result in free space to make a pass down field.

  5. Step 5

they are probably gonna try and swing over and back making a few yards each time. Hopefully you can trap them now and again and with some strong wind this makes it very difficult for the offence. Iv seen teams make over a hundred passes against this zone and go nowhere. Identifying the strong throwers on the other team and adjusting the zone accordingly is key. Make the shit throwers throw difficult upfield passes allow the good throwers to dump to weak players.

  6. Step 6

endzone - if you decide not to switch to man. If its very windy its not a bad idea to keep zoning the whole way up. the wings and mid camp out on the end zone line forcing them to throw a pin point pass or loft something over which is a low percentage pass.

  7. Step 7

how it varies as its swung across the endzone

  8. Step 8

let them swing, line trap and force them to throw high...
