Initial Scheme. R-6, R-7 are on handlers. R-2 and R-3 poach the force lane (flick in this case). R-4 poaches the break-lane. R-5 is the deep man. R-1 wants to prevent short breaks to the front of the stack, but also prevent throws to the center of the offense.
Let's look at one offensive progression.
B-1 is the offense's first look. R-1 shuts down the short break, but doesn't chase too far into break space, which is guarded by R-4.
As B-1 clears, R-1 looks to cover center.
R-5 stays with deep cuts, allows unders.
R-2 and R-3 prevent unders.
Pressure the Reset as the offense attempts to reorganize.
As the offense re-organizes, so do we
Goal is to force loss of vertical and horizontal yards, unbalance the offensive tempo, and force uncomfortable/speculative throws.
