2 and 3 activate as a pair - 3 (open side cutter) cuts under and into the break side, 2 cuts away...

...and then 2 comes back under into the open side to receive a leading pass. 3 continues the diamond and cuts deep...

...and in this instance 2 takes the deep continuation option.

With the breakside under cut from 3, handler 6 has the opportunity to take an early IO flick option or break with a later around backhand...

...freeing up the break side for continuation to 2...

...and then to 4 who sees an opportunity to score developing.

Let's say now that the first pass has come out (anywhere) and the cutter has chosen to reset the disc to handler 7 on the forced sideline. 4, recognising that he (and his defender) is clogging the open lane, clears, leaving the open side free for a strike cut from 6

This time 4 clears, 6 strikes but doesn't get separation, and so 3 comes under to take the around reset.

Step 13

And now 2 and 4 have become a cutting pair in the centre of the field, and run a variation on the diamond.
