This will be a basic vertical stack play that will be implemented during out season. This is a basic introduction to get everyone involved with how to run and play a vertical stack when we are on offense.
When there is a pull or if there is a turn over, let the handlers set up in the handler line while the cutters line up behind each other (10 yards away from the handlers). The cutters need to set up as soon as possible; within 5 seconds of the turn over, before the handler picks up the disc.
For our team, we're going to make things simple and have the cutters initiate from the front of the stack. This basically means that the person in front of you should make their cut before you do.
Once the handler (H2) picks up the disc and the stall count starts (Most likely, the defense will be forcing flick). Cutter 1 should run all the way to the open side. In this case it is the side that the force flick is on. Cutter 2, will run forward a bit.
After cutter 1 makes their cut, cutter 2 makes a cut to the break side (other side of the field). Cutter 3 will take a couple of steps forward.
Cutter 1 will try to run back to the stack to the original position of cutter 2. Cutter 2 will get out, and try to get back into the stack. Cutter 3 will run deep.
Cutter 2 will run back to the stack, behind cutter 1 and wait for cutter 1 to do their cut again. If cutter 3 does not get the disc, then they will run back to their original position in the stack. All of this, up to here should be done by stall 6.
If neither cutter (1, 2, or 3) gets the disc by stall 6, then the handler will have already thrown the disc to another handler (H3 in this example). Once the other handler gets the disc, then the cutters run the vertical stack play all over again.
