The goal of this defense is to force bad swings or a risky huck.
The mark always forces straight up, we want the offense to have to swing the disc.
The other two defenders in the sponge are to cut off upfield throws.

When the disc gets thrown to the sideline DO NOT trap the disc. Keep marking straight up, or even shade towards the sideline a bit, and force the swing. The [2] in the sponge sinks back to cut off throws towards the middle of the field, while [1] aims to cut off long arounds and snag floaty swings to the middle handler.
The side wings [6] need to be ready in case the [7] cutters try to get a continuation pass.

Much like regular cup zones, the wings will pick up cutters trying to pop into the zone.

The major weakness of the zone is a patient swinging offense.
