Starting position (red on defense): 5, 6, and 7 cover handlers, with 6 marking straight up (no hucks!) and 5 & 7 not allowing dumps. 1 & 2 cover the underneath passes in the middle of the field when the middle handler has possession. 3 & 4 cover deep throws, with one of them being deeper than every cutter.
This is the starting position if the pull lands near a sideline or is picked up by a side handler. 1 & 2 shift to the right, still covering underneath passes. 3 & 4 cover deep throws, with one of them being deeper than every cutter. 5 & 6 cut off dumps while respecting upline cuts by handlers. Most importantly, perhaps, 7 marks straight up until stall 3 or so (even forcing middle a bit) as to allow 1 & 2 time to shift into position (as they have the most strenuous job), before switching to force sideline.
By the time the stall count is at 3, the underneath defenders, 1 & 2, will be in place, and 7 can now force sideline.
If the disc moves to the other sideline, everyone shifts, with 5 forcing straight until stall 3 and then forcing sideline.
By stall 3, the defense has had time to shift and 5 switches to force sideline.
But what if they complete a pass upfield?
Well, we drop the mark off of the nearest usual handler and shift back into our default positions.
When the unmarked handler gets the disc, we'll be back to kicking ass!
