This page will diagram out our Handler reset system. Let's start with disc in middle, forcing flick. Blue 1 has the disc while Red 1 is putting on the mark. Notice how Blue 2 and 3 are slightly behind Blue 1 on the field.
Blue 1 activates Blue 2 by turning to him/her. Blue 2 then cuts hard behind Blue 1
In the first instance Blue 2 gets the disc just behind Blue 1
Blue 1 then moves to the open side to be the handler.
In our second instance...
Blue 2 cuts hard behind Blue 1 but is covered up on their initial cut. Blue 1 signals to Blue 2 to cut back across the same plane with a hard fake
Blue 1 hits Blue 2 across the middle.
Blue 1 clears to handler position
In our third instance...
While Blue 2 is making their initial cut, Blue 3 is waiting to activate. Blue 3 must watch the play develop and, if necessary, cut up line.
Blue 2 is being covered completely and Blue 3 becomes the bail out. Strike hard in front of Blue 1 to get the last ditch effort.
Blue 1 and 2 clear to handlers.
Now we move to when disc on the trapped sideline.
Blue 2 cuts hard up line to try and get the disc in power position. Only throw this if there is no one in the space and handler has clear separation. This is not what we are looking for primarily.
While Blue 2 is making their cut, Blue 3 is preparing to come and get the disc from Blue 1's break throw. Start by cutting hard up the field for 3 or 4 hard steps to get your defender off balance.
Blue 3 receives the OI throw from Blue 1 and becomes the new middle handler. Sideline cutters should be coming back for the continuation on the break side.
The only deviation you can make from this play is if...
Red 2 is poaching upline.
In this case, Blue 2 runs a "favorite" cut, driving their defender on their heels with a few hard steps
Then getting the break from Blue 1. Blue 2 now has option to either hit Blue 3, which is preferable, or if Red 2 over-pursues, to hit Blue 1 and go upline.
Now if the disc on the break side...
In our first instance, Red 2 is face guarding Blue 2. Blue 2 signals to Blue 1 to throw a "trust pass" by walking in and making definitive eye contact.
Blue 1 throws a floaty OI pass to space, a throw that only Blue 2 can catch and that Blue 2 reacts to only when Red 2 cannot make a play.
In our second instance Red 2 is no longer face guarding Blue 2.
Blue 2 strikes up line to get the disc. Only throw this if there is separation. This is not our primary look.
Our primary look is Blue 3. Blue 3 is waiting for the play to develop and then striking up line hard for 3 or 4 steps to make his defender commit.
Blue 3 pops out of the cut to receive the disc from Blue 1's OI pass.
