This is the intial set up for our zone, called monster.
As the disc is swung, the monster stays on the disc, with the sides filling in on either side of him.
The disc line is absolute, we want to force them to go backwards, so the sides don't go past the line
Communication lines are between 1 and 4, 7 and 5, and 6 and 2. The person further back talks to the person in front about where the cutters are.
If their player 4 cuts through the middle, 7 must tell 5 which side the cutter is, yelling 'right side'. They can then mark them accordingly.
6 must then move to cover 6, because they are a bigger threat to catch the disc.
If the disc is swung, again the monster follows, and the sides moves again, notice how the mids move to cover the holes.
Also remember that defender 1 won't cross the line of the disc.
The anchor, or deep (7) must shade to the side of the disc to take away the huck chance
In this situation 4 has the hardest job, because they must watch for overhead or loopy passes to both 5 and 2.
The mosnter is a very tiring position
So if they get tired they can switch with a side on the sideline as shown. As long as you are communicating well, the switch is easy.
Nearly always, the monster will be a guy, and the sides will be 2 girls. Also, the third girl will be on the break side (opposite of force side). The 2 other mids and the deep will be guys.
If they get to aroudn 20 yeards before the endzone, (basically when the deep reaches our endzone line), they will call a 'melt'. THis means we transition to man to man defense. This must be done very quickly, as 1 throw can mean a point.
It is a fairly easy transition to man to man, but since the 2 ears are female, they must either communicate to find a girl in the stack, or take a guy handler.
