Step by step 14 steps
  1. Step 1

So, basic zone offense. We're the blue guys going upwards. We have 3 handlers (O1, O2, and O3), 2 poppers/mids (O4 and O5) and two deeps (O6 and O7). Handlers swing the disc across the field and look up field. Swing...

  2. Step 2

    Swing...

  3. Step 3

Poppers. Handling a lot myself recently, I know there is one thing I need from the poppers above all else, and you wouldn't think about it. Your eyes. As handlers I know better about when you are open than you do. This is the exact opposite of what you do against a man offense. You always need to have your eyes pointed at the disc. Anywho, sometimes you can get open by doing very little...

  4. Step 4

So we swung to the middle. O2 faked to O4 (handlers: fakes are good). The middle middle (D2) and the short deep (D5) jumped over on the fake. O5 has ended up open... and did fuck all to get that way.

  5. Step 5

    Easy pass through the zone.

  6. Step 6

    Nothing upfield. Dump.

  7. Step 7

Reset. Deeps, take a look at what happens.

  8. Step 8

Sometimes getting open downfield takes more work. The most interesting part of what's happening is downfield with the deeps. O7 has busted deep. Their deep deep (O7) picked up the deep cutter and yelled at the wing (D6) to pick up O4.

  9. Step 9

O4 has realized what happened and has pulled the defender even deeper. This has left a massive space for O5 to move into.

  10. Step 10

Take away point for deeps: You will not get the disc very often. But, YOU ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PLAYERS ON THE FIELD! Your job is to try to pull the wings and deeps into positions that leave open spaces for the poppers. But occasionally you'll get rewarded...

  11. Step 11

...by cutting straight to the popper when the deep can't risk going in with you.

  12. Step 12

After that pass was completed, everyone was so happy. The two number 7s (colors denote different teams and nothing else) fell in love and decided to get married on the field. #15 came to officiate.

  13. Step 13

Then there was a massive group hug.

  14. Step 14

    Then fireworks!
