  1. Step 1

    Let's start in the middle of the field. The dump should be set up RECESSED on the FORCE side. This is essentially the base Pittsburgh dump set.

    If the dump is close to even, their defender can poach the throwing lane.

    If the dump is on the break side, the handler has to turn into their defender to make the dump. The defender can also poach the break lane.

    With a recessed force side location, they are out of throwing lane and the handler can easily turn toward them.

    If the defender is trying to poach the lane...

    The dump can run underneath, and get an easy dump to an easy break throw.

    If the dump is trying to cut off the underneath...

    The dump can run upfield for a power throw (slightly tougher throw...inside-out or off hand)

    Spacing is important here, and with practice, you'll understand what the right distance is to set up.

  10. Step 10

    If you are the right distance, you'll even be able to execute dumps when covered. If the disc can get to the dump before the defender realizes it is in the air, success!
