Our opening setup. In reality there will be a stack behind the Ace (3), and they will all be cutting.
The thrower squares up to initiate the dump.
The dump goes up-line
If he/she is open, the throw goes up
and the stack shifts downfield
Alternately, the dump might not get open immediately. Let's look at that. This is our opening setup.
The thrower squares up to initiate the dump.
The dump cuts up-line.
In this case the cut is defended.
The dump cuts straight back and the throw goes up.
The Ace (3) initiates the swing cut and the dump receives the disc.
He/She immediately releases upfield to the ace.
This is the same from the sideline.
Up-line.
Back for the dump. (Despite how this looks, this would be a backhand around the mark)
The Ace cuts for the swing. Note that from the sideline, the ace might have to cut back-field a bit, rather than straight to the side
