Step by step 9 steps
  1. Step 1

This is the basic set up of the offense. The cutters are 12-15 yards upfield from the handlers and evenly spaced. The handlers are about 15 yards apart. The cutters are labeled 1 - 4.

  2. Step 2

The offense can be initiated by either cutter 2 or 3. In this demonstration, cutter 3 will initiate. Mirror the motion if cutter 2 initiates. Every cutter has the choice of cutting in or out.

  3. Step 3

Cutter 3 chooses to cut in. As cutter 3 cuts in, cutter 2 begins to set up his cut.

  4. Step 4

Cutter 3 clears to his original side, cutter 2 makes his cut (remember that every cutter has the choice to go in or out), cutter 4 sets up his cut and cutter 1 is still patiently waiting in order to prevent clogging.

  5. Step 5

Cutter 2 clears to his original side, cutter 4 makes his cut, and cutter 1 sets up his cut. Cutter 3 waits a second for space to open up.

  6. Step 6

Cutter 4 clears, cutter 1 makes his cut, cutter 3 sets up, and cutter 2 pauses.

  7. Step 7

Cutter 1 clears, cutter 3 makes his cut, cutter 2 sets up, and cutter 4 pauses. This is the original orientation and looks like the first iteration.

  8. Step 8

The process continues. In a real game situation this will break down, but the downfield cutters should strive to reset to this formation whenever possible.
