Step by step 5 steps
  1. Step 1

The Defense sets up with 1 mark, and 3 people in the cup. The people in the cup need to be able to touch each other's finger tips, while being at least 3 meters away from the person with the disc. The cup's main goal is to force the disc one particular side. Players 5 and 6 are the wings, and they are defending the cutters going back and forth into the cup. Player 7 is the one with best view of the field, and he will call back a wing, if there is more than 1 cutter running deep.

  2. Step 2

When the disc moves to the side, the cup needs to follow it together, and keep up their force. The wings are staying on their mark, and calling CRASH when one cutter is running into the cup. The last man back continues to watch over the field, and defends the cutter striking deep

  3. Step 3

If the handler is able to break the force, and get the disc across the field, the main goal of the cup is to prevent an up-line pass. They continue to move together, and once set up, they force the same side. Wings are maintaining pressure on the cutters. The last man back is keeping the cutters in his vision, and under control.

  4. Step 4

If the disc is able to get away from the cup, and it is beginning to seem chaotic, the last man back will call a MELT, in which case everyone takes the closest person to them.

  5. Step 5

After a MELT call, the defense takes up the person closest to them, with the person farthest up being of more threat. Proceed with a man defence.
