The offence sets up In their stack. The defence is playing person/ man on man defence. Except #1 and #2 are sharing their players. #1 is deep of their person and #2 is positioned under in the throwing lane, this way they can help block the throw if an offensive player runs to that space.
In this case if Blue #1 attacks under then #2 red will defend them. This blocks off the passing lane. In this scenario #1 red should move forward and not be so far behind the deepest offensive player.
This forces offence to reset their stack.
Another scenario is #2 blue attacks under and #1 blue goes deep. In this case the defenders each stay and protect their space.
And if the offensive players switch directions, the defenders don't chase and instead "share" their players with their teammate.
