Step by step 5 steps
  1. Step 1

Initial Initial configuration is a two person cup (in this example 1&2 because the disc is on their side). Players 3&4 are forcing their cutters to the middle. They do not want a throw to go to their side of the field and absolutely not more to the sideline than they are. Player 5 is preventing middle of the field, upfield passes and 6&7 are playing deep.

  2. Step 2

Dump Players 1&2 follow as a cup because the disc is still on their side of the field. 3&4 may pinch in to add pressure to any short throws, but are still responsible for their side Player 5 is still only interested in preventing throws to the middle of the field 6&7 do what deeps do best

  3. Step 3

Swing or Cross Field Players 3 & 4 become the cup, 1&2 start preventing throws to their side

  4. Step 4

Upfield Throw Depending on the side that the disc is on, either players 1&2 or 3&4 become cup. It may make sense for Players 3&4 to break up give & go passes while transitioning after an upfield throw. The goal is to not let the disc make it to the sidelines but we also don't want to let their offense march up field.
