Step by step 8 steps
  1. Step 1

Starting position. There will be a decision made about initiating from the Alpha (front of stack) or the Omega (back of stack).

  2. Step 2

In this example from the Alpha, the continuation is generally to the Omega (either under or deep).

  3. Step 3

As players get the disc, we continue with the Omega generating cuts. The players behind the disc (1 / 2 / 3) clear to the inactive side of the field.

  4. Step 4

If 6 is not free then there should be opportunities to dump (to 3) and swing (to 1) i.e. it is important to remain 'heads up'.

  5. Step 5

Assuming 6 is free and gets the disc, inactive players return to the middle of the stack i.e. don't become the Alpha or the Omega.

  6. Step 6

As the disc moves up the field, we are more likely to be generating cuts from the Alpha. That is not to say that there won't be chances for other cuts from the stack but these are likely to be more opportunistic.

  7. Step 7

We're also likely to get into a situation where there are three handlers out. We will be looking for more handler-generated movement.
