This is what a "side stack" could look like in 5v5 off of a pull or a dropped disc. Two handlers will start farther upfield from our scoring endzone, and three cutters will begin on the "break side". The cutters should be standing about 5 yards in-field. This stack does not start with an "iso" or hot cutter. Instead, Player 5 (P5) will make the first cut off the back of the stack as they are the deepest cutter in the stack. First, the player needs to move away from the stack* to make room for break side throws. *this will prevent picks and running into other players, it will also force the defense to turn their hips one direction or another which allows you to create separation by going the opposite direction.
there are a few moves P5 can make. They can cut under on the open side, either towards the sideline or straight towards the disc (outside vs inside lane). They can also cut deep open side or break side. I recommend incorporating a fake into your cut through speed change, direction change, or any other methods that don't involve hurting other people.
As P5 makes their cut, Players 3 and 4 (P3 and P4) should be moving the stack. P4 is now the "back of the stack" so they should begin creating separation from the stack into the space that P5 did not cut into. (P5 went under in the end so it's safe to be in the middle/deep space setting up your cut*. P3 should be moving farther "downfield" but keep an eye on the disc in case you're a break side option. when the first cutter clears back into the stack, you should begin setting up your cut. *Delay this start if you're a bit speedier and notice you're overtaking the cutter before you or cutting off their movement.
If P5 does not get thrown to, they should clear back to the break side where the stack would be, making sure to leave space for a strike cut from P2, the cutting handler, in case the thrower needs a "reset". While P2 is trying to get open, in this scenario P4 has decided to cut deep, since they noticed their defender D4 is guarding the "under cut". Since the stall was getting to about 4 or 5 seconds, P1 decides to throw to the open strike P2. P2 is now in power position and has a great angle to throw to a wide open P4.
P2 decided to throw to P4. DO THEY SCORE? Come to league to find out what happens next. :)
