We have our D playing defense in the middle waiting for the cuts coming in. Our 2 wings ( 4&5) Playing man defense on the two wider cutters. Our short-deep (6) protecting behind the second line. The deep-deep (7) covering the deep threat.
As the disc swings, and the offense tries to attack the continuation. Notice how the defense does everything to stop this next pass. The deep is following the cutter from the deep in until he can pass on to the wing. The cup moves to stop the popper, the D moves to stop the popper. The far wing is stepping in. The other mewmber of the cup is stopping the instant return pass. The short deep has taken the far player to cover the deep space.
Once these threats have been contained notice how the cup now reforms and starts to begin the stall.
The handler throws a pass across the pitch. The deep cannot make a switch to the wing so continues to follow his man.
Once the threats have been contained. The defense repositions
