Step by step 9 steps
  1. Step 1

Starting setup: four cutters spread the sidelines. Breakside handler is roughly even with the disc, open side handler is 45 degrees back.

  2. Step 2

The two center cutters initiate simultaneously. #6 takes 3-4 hard steps under, while #5 streaks deep. Both of these are viable looks.

  3. Step 3

#6 cuts hard to the breakside, and #5 comes all the way under. Again, both are viable looks.

  4. Step 4

#5 catches the under and now #6 and #4 have to communicate. #6 can choose to cut deep from the breakside if their defender overcommits to that cut, but in this case, they talk and #4 decides to make their cut. They push upfield, then move horizontally to close the gap with their defender before planting hard to go under or deep.

  5. Step 5

#4 catches the under, but #6 isn't ready to cut yet, so after a few counts, #4 looks to reset. #5 is clearing out, and our primary reset is always to the open side handler (#3) in this offense.

  6. Step 6

#4 has the option of simply throwing the disc to space for #3 to run onto upfield, but the defender is pretty tight, so they throw a fake. The fake tells #3 to start cutting to get open. Meanwhile, #7 (the "island" cutter) notices the swing developing and starts pushing upfield to create space.

  7. Step 7

The swing goes off, and now cutter #7 plants hard and comes straight under...

  8. Step 8

They get the under, and now all four cutters are in the side-stack flow. At this point, #6 is ready to make a cut, but we could also call our end zone offense as well.
