Initial Setup - Red #1 & #2 are the front 2, forcing righty flick #3 and #4 are 'Mids, L+R', #5 is deep We are allowing the immediate swing with #2 poaching the upfield force side throw #3 is taking away the IO Space #4 is watching the over top to the open side mid space, bu ttheir primary job is to lock down the initial under cut WHEN the swing happens as #2 and #3 adjust. #5 will rarely move further than center towards the break space unless there is a throw up.
If the offense takes the look we want, they're going to swing to Blue2. As this swing happens, Red2 closes on the disc sealing against an early IO and #4 actively clogs the force side lane. 5 shifts slightly to the force side. #3 hangs a little deeper, keeping withing threat range of the last back player on the breakside
#2 closes to the disc, with a hard no-IO force, almost straight up. #1 stays tight to the other handle, setting up close enough to make a swing difficult and taking away a easy strike look. The offense tends to collapse to the force side here, so 3 can usually pinch in a bit, and #5 can close to just a bit behind the deepest offensive player - again staying close to center until forced to cover a person.
The biggest threat from the offense here is Blue 4 and 5 crashing in to either side of Red4. If this happens, Red4 should cover the inner threat of Blue 4, and allow the throw to Blue 5.
As the throw comes to Blue5, Red 4 wants to stay between the new thrower and the closest receiver, Blue4, taking away the fast break look and a relatively easy throw. Red 3 wants to compress a bit sealing up any downfield breakside opportunity as Red2 closes to mark, sealing against an early swing or reset. Red 1 now comes to take away the easy reset to Blue2
Red4 stays between upline receiver and thrower - watch out for a comeback along the line. Red2 shifts to a more 90deg mark now that Red 1 is locked in. #3 moves into space to potentially challenge floaty throws to Blue 1 or 3. Red 3 SHOULD ALWAYS BE READY TO CHALLENGE A BAD THROW. If its a good throw, simply move downfield and take away the lane for the next thrower.
