Step by step 9 steps
  1. Step 1

    We receive the pull

  2. Step 2

We set up in a horizontal stack with a line of 4 cutters about 15 yards away from the disc and 2 handlers (one hybrid, one secondary) on each side of the disc.

  3. Step 3

As you may have noticed the offense is facing a junk defense, most zone defense will tend to force the offense to throw flick, making the left side of the field (for blue) the break side. So, the two cutters on the break side (in this case 4 and 5) cut diagonally deep (staggering their cuts so that the inside cutter- in this case 5 cuts 2 seconds before the outside cutter- in this case 4) and towards the middle of the field about 10 yards while the cutters on the open side of the field (in this case 6 and 7) slash diagonally across the field to the break side.

  4. Step 4

The inside cutter (in this case number 5) stops their deep cut and then cuts about 10-15 yards under to the open side. At the same time, the outside cutter cuts deep. In this scenario we will learn how to continue our offense when the under cut receives the disc.

  5. Step 5

When the disc is thrown to the cutter that goes under the deep cutter needs to realize this and come under towards them and become the beginning of the new horizontal stack about 10 yards away from where the disc is. The cutter who received the disc should look up the field for a few seconds and can throw it to the deep cutter that has now come under if they are open and the thrower is comfortable. If not, the handlers should have already been following the disc and it should be dumped back to the closest handler (in this case the open side handler or number 3)

  6. Step 6

From here the disc should be swung to the middle of the field and simultaneously the downfield cutters in the horizontal stack should begin to flow again. So, the same cuts in step #3 are made (cycle).

  7. Step 7

Now the same cuts in step #4 are made. However, this time we want to hit the deep cutter. Against a regular match defense the middle handler may be able to huck it to our deep cutter. However, as we know we are facing a junk/cup defense and while the middle handler may be able to huck it deep it will be much harder to with that junk there so instead this handler should look to swing it to the handler on the open side for them to huck it deep. For our deep cutter, this is why timing your cut and staggering with the inside cutter is very important because you want to gain as much separation as possible when you finally do strike deep. If you noticed you have mistimed your cut, make a small cut under to bring that deep defender in towards the disc before exploding deep as shown by blue #6.

  8. Step 8

From here the deep cutter (in this case blue #6) can use the deep defenders momentum towards the under space to their advantage and make a quick turn and explode deep. As this happens the huck from the open side handler (in this case number 3) goes up, ideally before the junk/cup defense gets to them as this is when they will have the most open opportunity to throw the disc. If this handler does not feel comfortable throwing the huck for any reason such as, didn't catch it well enough to huck it right away, it's to windy, the defense is closing in on them etc. then do not huck it. However if they get it from that middle handler and the chance is their then fucking BOOST it.
