Step by step 9 steps
  1. Step 1

Initial setting (Red: Offense, Blue: Defense; Player 5 & 6 on each side are not in the game) In the demo, Red 2 is holding the disc, and Blue 2 is taking a forcing-middle mark -- that is, Blue 2 forces Red 2 to either swing the disc to Red 1 or throw a disc into the middle of crowd formed by player 3,4,5 on both sides. This area is in general filled with defense players and is thereby difficult for the offense side to find an open space.

  2. Step 2

Blue 3 & 4 stand in front of Red 3 & 4. Under such positioning, every short passes to the middle-field to Red 3 & 4 must first pass over Blue 3 & 4. Therefore, it will be relatively easier for Blue 3 & 4 to stop every possible forward pass to the middle field. (Example: blocking a pass to player 3)

  6. Step 6

As blue 3 & 4 are standing in front of 3 & 4, they will be at a disadvantage if Red 3 & 4 are cutting deep. Moreover, there is a Red 5 who is also threatening the deep field. Here comes our Blue 5. Blue 5 is responsible to tackle EVERY long pass to Red 3, 4, 5. He/She should stand behind Red 5, carefully watching whether the handler is going to release a big throw, and quickly assessing who is the most possible catcher. Example of stopping a long throw to Red 4. In this case, Blue 5 is more likely to get the disc than Blue 4. Be careful not to use body play!
