For this display, the red dots are cones, and the blue dots are runners. This conditioning drill sets up with two lines, one on either side of the field and at opposite end zones. The cones are set up in a "shuttle run" design. The top of the field Shows a four cut design, while the bottom of the field show a triple cut design.
The runners start by cutting to the first cone in front of them, and then returning to the starting location. They repeat this process for each of the middle cones. Once the runner makes it to the final cone in their line (#'s 7 and 6 here), they do not return to their line, but instead turn downfield and sprint the length of the play field, to simulate a long cut. They then join the other line. As shown, the cuts become longer both to and from the starting line, increasing the effort needed to complete the task. This is a great way to compound the physical conditioning. Here's how it looks in full speed:
Repeat through both lines until you return to the original starting position. Repeat as much as necessary to make it a strong workout.
