The disc starts in the middle of the field. The cutters do not interact in the first part of this play, however they will be vital for continuation plays following the completion of the "Axel".
The "Axel" is called LOUDLY by the player with the disc (if not pre-determined before the disc is in play), which will inform the offense to begin the play. The sideline handlers make seperate movements to set up their defenders for the next cut.
The break side handler makes a fast cut upfield towards the forced side
The forced side handler makes a similar movement to the backfield towards the break side.
When they complete these cuts, both handlers quickly stop their movement and make another cut along the same line they just made, back to their original starting position.
These movements, when executed properly, will create large spaces on both the break and forced sides. From here the player with the disc can choose whether the advantage is towards the break side or the forced side.
If the Disc is moved to the break side, this opens up the immediate possibility for a quick in cut from the break side, or a large out cut from the forced side.
If the disc is moved to the forced side, the in cut might not be as viable, but a continuation cut from the thrower is wide open. The deep cut from the break side is still viable.
When the disc has settled, the appropriate places for handlers and cutters to reestablish the stack are clear to see.
