When the disc is in the middle the reset should be back and 45. This means the reset handler should be behind the disc and 45 degrees away about 7 yards behind and 7 yards away. This positioning, when the disc is in the middle, will give the handler two different cuts. The Green Cut and the Toughest.
This is the green cut. This cut is not only good for reseting the disc but can also help open up space for a break side throw. When you are making this throw you want to completely turn your body to box the defender out and then lead the cutter to give them the most space.
If the throw can't be made the cutter can come back through the same plane to try to get the disc. (We will not show the throw and use this to reset the cutters).
The second cut is called the toughest. This is called the toughest because it is a hard throw to make. For this cut the reset goes straight up line. The thrower must lead the cutter and it is difficult to throw because the defender is normally close by. When the throw is made the new cutter must back up and be 7 and 7 back on the open side.
Reset to show what happens when the handler is trapped on the sideline.
The two cuts that this reset has are the strike and the railroad cut. Getting the strike cut helps the offense because it gives them power position (momentum to make a big throw on the force side). The railroad cut helps get the disc off the sideline and opens the field up more. The first example shows the strike cut. When this cut is made the previous handler wants to be about 3 yards deeper than the handler. Being a couple yards deeper helps for the railroad cut which will be shown in the next step.
The railroad cut is like the strike cut but they cut back if the strike isn't available. For this cut you want to pull your defender as far away from the space you'll be going. For this cut you will be going right back and try to get the around throw to open the field up more.
When the disc the is on the other side and their is a flat mark the reset should still set up like they are going to do a strike or railroad.
