Step by step 7 steps
  1. Step 1

The offense handlers are on blue. The defense is on red. There are three handlers in this situation. The disc is on the force side. Handler 1 will initiate Handler 2's cut, either by looking at Handler 2 or by turning towards Handler 2.

  2. Step 2

Handler 2 makes an upline cut. This throw is viable if Handler 2 has a step or two on his defender, and is great for gaining yards while also resetting the stall count. In this case, the defender stayed with him and prevented the upline throw.

  3. Step 3

Here, Handler 2 has two options. One option is two eject into the cutter space, and have one of the cutters fill in for him as a handler. The second option, seen here, is a 7 cut. Handler 2 redirects his cut by stopping and accelerating towards the break side. This is also a viable option for the thrower, as the defender is trailing behind them. Handler 3 fills in the space in the middle and prepares his cut.

  4. Step 4

Handler 3 now makes his cut while Handler 2 is clearing towards the break side. Handler 2 fakes an upline cut, allowing him to create separation between himself and the defender.

  5. Step 5

Handler 3 then stops and reverses directions, now cutting to the break-side backfield. This is an around throw, and helps swing the disc off the sideline. Handler 1 throws the break-side around to Handler 3 because Handler 3 created the separation with the fake upline.

  6. Step 6

Handler 3 catches the disc and immediately throws the break side throw to Handler 2 before his defender can set up his mark. The disc has now been swung fully to the break-side, allowing more space for the cutters to get the disc.
