Red is defence, blue has the disc off the pull. #1 puts on a force and will always be on the mark. No other player puts on a mark or counts. #2, #3 and #4 form a wall in front of the disc at 90 degrees from #1. #4 and #5 are wings and cover the space on either side of the field and stop continuation passes. #7 is the deep and cleans up any long throws.
Offence's safest throw is laterally to #3.
The mark and the wall move across to cover this. As the disc is near the side line, the wall can wrap around a little bit by having #2 move down a bit to stop the lateral pass back to #1 and have the mark cut off the dump pass. #4 is responsible for making sure nothing goes up the side line and #3 is stopping the pass through the middle.
#5 can come across to cover the over pass and #6 wants to cover the over pass on their side.
If offence swings it across the field, it can get out of hand quickly, but if everyone responds quickly and contains the disc, the zone can hold.
The wall moves sideways and upwards a little to make sure they get in front of the disc again, while the mark sprints to put the force on. #5 needs to respond by stopping the continuation pass up the side line.
If at any stage a long throw is sent to the two deep offence players, the deepest player #7 tries to intercept it.
If other offensive players enter the wall, the wings need to yell crash and the outside player of the wall can follow the player until they leave the area.
