When the disc is swung to the sideline, the Wing and Mid Mid both focus on stopping continuation throws.
As the cup resets, the Mid Mid moves into position to stop skinny breaks, and the far side wing pinches in a bit to challenge long throws to that side of the field.
If the center handler makes a cut upline, Lane 1 follows until the Mid Mid picks them up.
As cutters crash, the Lanes respond.
The Lane follows until the cutter begins clearing out.
The Wing picks up the cutter as they clear.
As the Lanes follow crashers, this opens up the center of the field to cuts.
This is where the Mid Mid fills the space vacated by the Lane until the Lane returns.
If the zone fails in stopping upline throws, it is key that the wings don't begin marking whoever has the disc. They are always focusing on stopping the continuation throw.
During these fast breaks, cutters will often challenge the deep with multiple cuts towards the endzone. The break side wing needs to peel off and assist with these cutters until the threat has passed.
