In zone defense you are guarding areas of the field rather than guarding people on the field. The positions in the zone are named as follows 1)Mark 2)Inside 3)Middle 4)Open 5)Back Break 6)Back Open 7)Deep The goal of this zone is to force the disc to the trap side (in this case the righty backhand trap side and then cover the easiest options to make the thrower have to throw cross-field.
As the disc swings to the trap side, 1,2,3, and 4 work as a unit to keep the disc moving to the open side and remove quick continuations
Disc continues moving to trap side. 1,2,3,4 becoming progressively more aggressive in trap - not letting around throw go. 5 and 6 are covering the off 2 biggest downfield threats
Reset to start
If a pass is completed to a cutter, everyone drops. Blue 1 is the only person ever putting a stall on
Defense continues trying to force disc to trap sideline
If offense overloads the trap side, 5,6,7 communicate to take away the closest threats. In this case they leave 3 and 7 open because it is hard for Red to throw to them.
