Step by step 7 steps
  1. Step 1

Very basic initial vert stack set up. Will change depending on what opening play your team is running.

  2. Step 2

The '5' or last back in the stack always has right of way when cutting. All other players should look behind before making a move. This is because we want to eat up the most yards with our cuts. We've got lots of athletes and need to take advantage of this.

  3. Step 3

After we get the disc under (or deep) the rest of the stack needs to push up the field, and the '4' becomes the new '5' and sets up their cut accordingly. The stack needs to be really proactive in moving up the field in order to set up the next play. The '4' can use this push to set up their cut by sprinting and not just walking or jogging into position. The old dump can either clear into the stack or cut deep down the weakside lane (making sure not to cut anyone else off who is already cutting).

  4. Step 4

When we reset the disc, if the dump catches it closet to the middle of the field or further out into the break side, we will always try to swing to the back of stack as it gives us more metres than the '1'. The '1' needs to shoulder check every time before they go for that swing cut after the dump.

  5. Step 5

If we reset the disc close to the same sideline, then because we don't have a clear view of the far side lane we'll initiate the '1' in a traditional swing movement.

  6. Step 6

After the swing, we repeat the process. The last in the stack has right of way cutting and the other cutter clears deep in the weak side lane or into the middle of the stack
