Step by step 7 steps
  1. Step 1

The Normal Pom. This will be a sideline force, unless there's a particularly stiff breeze across the field, in which case we'll force with the wind. Mark comes 45 degrees behind the handlers and concentrates on not allowing any easy around dumps. Cup 1 stops any inside break throws to the mark's left. Cup 2 stop any throws through the gap between them and Cup 1. Cup 3 stops any throws through the hole between them and Cup 2. They also stop crashes. Wing 1 stops open side throws down the line, and is mindful of not getting sucked in too close to the disc. Wing 2 mainly stops throws into the middle of the field, but is ready to bid on a floaty swing to Dump 2. Deep covers the two back players.

  2. Step 2

Setup for the middle of the field. Aim is to stop upfield throws and force the disc to the sideline.

  3. Step 3

And setting up on the other sideline. Note the cup always maintains their position relative to each other. That means Cup 1 is now on the open side, Cup 3 on the break side.

  4. Step 4

The Short Pom. One player in the cup comes out to play in a short deep role. This will likely be used when the opposition is more dangerous throwing over the cup, rather than around or through it.

  5. Step 5

Assassinate The Pom. If the other team has a particularly dominant handler, we may pull someone out of the cup (in this case, C3) and have them play match defence on that handler, to force the opposition to play more passes through weaker handlers.

  6. Step 6

Assassinate The Pom (pt 2). If the targeted player gets the disc, the assassin (C3) moves into the open side cup position.
