Step by step 17 steps
  1. Step 1

Basic horizontal set-up with disc in the middle. Handler 2 is 45 degrees back since they are on the open-side. This is so their defender can't poach the open lane.

  2. Step 2

EXAMPLE OF POACH - if open-side handler is in-line with the disc. The defender is poaching the open-lane.

  3. Step 3

Basic horizontal set-up with disc in the middle. Handler 3 is in line with the disc. This is so they can easily cut up line. and it is not advantageous for them to be back any farther.

  4. Step 4

Anyone with the disc should look up-field for up to 4 stall counts. Then they should be engaging the handlers for a reset.

  5. Step 5

If the open-side handler is engaged (handler 1), they should cut behind to the break side. Ideally, this handler should receive the disc on the break side of the person with the disc.

  6. Step 6

Handler 3 should be making an up-line cut to the open-side as handler 1 cuts. This is to be another option for the player with the disc and it clears space for handler 1 receiving the disc on the break-side.

  7. Step 7

Both handlers 2 and 3 are on the open-side so they are both 45 degrees back.

  9. Step 9

    Cutting pattern.

  10. Step 10

Handler 2 can cut to break-side, but that would be very close to the side-line or the defense might be taking this away. The other option is to cut up for a quick dish.

  11. Step 11

Handler 3 is active as well.

    1234567D1D2D3D4D5D6D7
  12. Step 12

Handler 3 needs to be 45 degrees back. Handler 1 should be in line with the disc.

  13. Step 13

Cutters 5 and 6 are active.

  14. Step 14

    Cutting pattern.

  15. Step 15

If the break-side handler is engaged (handler 1), they should up-line to the open-side. Break-side handler should be cutting behind to the open-side. This is to be another option for the player with the disc and it clears space for handler 1 receiving the disc on the open-side.

  16. Step 16

Handler 1 receives disc up-line. Other handlers need to get into position and cutters should be beginning the cutting pattern.
