general setup - you are never actually positioned exactly like this but these are the general positions, 1 and 2 are the marks, 3 and 5 are the wings, 4 is the middle, or the top of the diamond (you'll see later) 6 and 7 are deeps
just focusing on the front 5 for now, if the disc is on 1's side of the field, they should mark
the mark is pretty flat, although very close to the sideline, they should trap, playing off of #1, the off- mark #2, should position on #1's left shoulder and defend up field passes and swings for yards
the close wing, should pinch in and play on #1's right shoulder, because the sideline is there, they don't need to come as far down as #2
#4, the middle, now forms the top of the diamond, they can play on either side of #1, but generally should guard the easier route to the middle of the field, they are also looking to defend continuation passes to the middle off of swings or chisels.
the off wing becomes the hammer stop, they can pinch to the middle of the field and float between threats
if the disc swings to the far side of the field, the mark switches and the setup is mirrored
the other thing to note, is that everyone should move to defend the middle of the field while the disc is moving even if it means giving up a couple extra yards, we want to keep the disc on the outside and in front of the front 5
after containing, then the marks can sink down into the handler space more
if the disc is all the way on the sideline, the mark should rotate to a more normal force sideline mark. This allows the off mark to go further behind the disc and force more yardage losing throws
reset to add in the deeps
you might find that it's better for the two deeps to just both roam to whatever two over the top threats there are, but for a general rule of thumb, the deep on which ever side the disc is on should pinch in, since the wing on that side has had to come in towards the handler space, the deep needs to now to protect the short over the top on that side.
as the disc swings, the two deeps should switch roles as well a bit, with #6 going towards the deeper space, with #7 pinching in (delayed a few steps to make sure the deep is covered)
