Step by step 12 steps
  1. Step 1

setup is thrower is blue #1, marker is red #1, cutter is blue#4, defender is red #4, this drill is to work on throwing the disc towards the breakside with cuts coming from the sidestack and a flat mark. The throwing lines are 15 yards apart vertically and about 17 yards horizontally (hash to hash on a football field). The cutting cones are about 10 yards vertically and 3 yards horizontally from the throwing lines. Red lines represent the sets of hashes on the football field, at first, just ignore them.

  2. Step 2

#4 blue cuts out to the deeper cone, #4 red who is trailing has to make it the shallower cone, this is to keep the defender honest, the goal is create an under cut with the defender on the cutter's hip to put pressure on the thrower, not to jump the lane and contain the cut. The distance between the cones should simulate the amount of cushion usually given.

  3. Step 3

The thrower tries to hit the cutter in stride, they can use either the under or the around.

  4. Step 4

take a breath, and when both blue #1 and red #1 are ready, they do the same going the other direction

  6. Step 6

make sure the cutter and defender clear the upfield space quickly and that they wait behind the disc to not be in the way.

  7. Step 7

pay attention to the rotation. Instead of switching every other. You should pick one end to switch in. (in this drawing, at cone 26). So you should throw, cut, throw, cut, mark, defend, mark, defender so that all throwers are getting both upwind and down wind throws in. If you have odd numbers, everyone should switch at the line that started with the odd number of people

  9. Step 9

  10. Step 10

once you've repped this for a bit, the next thing to do is to simulate the situation where we are all the way on the sideline so that the around can't go any wider, if you are playing on a football field, the middle set of hashes work perfectly. So now pretend that the red lines are sidelines

  11. Step 11

the cut might need to be a bit sharper

  12. Step 12

and the marks can go flater
