Step by step 14 steps
  1. Step 1

Horo set up with Blue 1-2-3 handlers, 4-5-6-7 cutters with 5 red symbolic force. Cutting in the horizontal stack requires the principle of "active" and "inactive pairs". With the disc in this set up, centered, the active pair is the pair of cutters in front of the disc ie 5 + 6. 5 + 6 cut in a peppermill pattern to get free, mirroring each other.

  2. Step 2

One player will be the "initiator", they will cut in one direction and the other cutter will mirror. eg 5 cuts break, 6 mirrors cuts deep.

  3. Step 3

Then 6 cuts back under as 5 cuts deep. This is the basic cutting pattern essential to the offense. 4 + 7 are inactive so they should stay still.

  4. Step 4

However, due to the stall count, the handlers may need to reset the disc if cuts downfield aren't successful. Say 2 swings to 1 (equally can swing to 3).

  5. Step 5

5 is no longer an active cutter as they are not in front of the disc. It is therefore important that they clear back into the stack to make space for 4+6, the current active pair.

  6. Step 6

    4+ 6 now cut, 4 break, 6 deep.

  7. Step 7

6 under 4 deep, reset to centre handler.

  8. Step 8

4 + 5 are the new active pair. 5 and 4 must communicate so as to not cut each other off. For example, 5 can shout "I'm cutting deep", 4 mirrors and cuts under....

  9. Step 9

Reset to handler 3, 4+7 active pair. 5 clears out of space for the new cutting pair.

  10. Step 10

    4 + 7 cutting.

  11. Step 11

The basic principles are communication between active cutters + mirroring the other active cutter's cut.
