Step by step 9 steps
  1. Step 1

    The set up is 1 force (1), 3 person cup(2,3,4). 2 wings (5,6) and 1 deep (7)

  2. Step 2

The force usually forces to the nearest sideline. If its a strong cross wind we may always force one way.

  3. Step 3

When the disc is on the side line the force can step slightly behind the thrower to make the dump pass to blue 2 more difficult. Player 2 stops the IO break throws The middle of the cup is the player who normally steps in to stop the offensive crashes. The far wing (6) can come more central to help the other wing (5) with players behind the cup. The deep has a big roll in communicating to the wings where the offensive players are. The wings have quite a bit of freedom to move to any offensive players in there area

  4. Step 4

If the disc is moved centrally to 5 its important for the wings to try stop any up more passes up field which will gain yards. This should give the cup and force chance to move across together and set up again

  5. Step 5

If the disc is dumped to 2 the cup moves together as a team and set up again. Rather than the force and cup running straight to blue 2 they can move slightly central then towards the disc. This will help put more pressure on the pass forward to blue 5 which would gain yards. This does allow an easier throw back to 1 which is good for the defence as the disc is back on the side line.

  6. Step 6

As the disc moves towards the centre of the pitch the cup straightens and the force moves back more to the side of the thrower. The wings will move across aswell

  7. Step 7

The force decides when the disc has gone past the middle of the pitch and shouts the force is switching.

  8. Step 8

When the force changes the 3 man cup rotates. The middle stays in the same position. 2 and 3 stay on the same shoulder of the middle . Except now the player who was stopping the IO now stops the line and vice versa. If they didn't rotate 4 would run a greater distance to cover the line position giving the offence more time to to gain yards down field

  9. Step 9

As the disc gets towards the sideline the cup curves more again and the force can step back round again
