Offense sets up in ho stack. Notice the handler on the force side is set up ~45 degrees back. this is to prevent their defender from poaching the force side lane.
First cut comes from the the break side. In this case with a flick force, the first cut will be from the 2 spot.
This first cut is attacking the "block", and cutting to the force side. Simultaneously, the 3 cutter is setting up the continuation cut, ideally attacking a deeper block and cutting back to the force side. Notice the 1 and 4 cutters are shifting down the field along the sideline, or "rail". Also, the break side handler (5) shifted to a cutter position when 2 got the disc. That handler is now a temporary cutter. As they cycle through, they'll eventually end up back in the handler position.
If all goes well, the 3 cutter gets the disc off of the continuation. Notice as this happens, the 1 cutter is setting up for another force side continuation cut.
The 1 cutter could come in for that force side through.
OR
The 1 cutter could go deep. The 3 cutter could have done that for her first cut, as well. It really depends on what the defender is giving you and if the person with the disc can put it.
Let's reset that.
If neither of the first two cuts are open, the center handler looks to the force side dump, which we'll go through in Step 12.
The first cut (2) is not open. If she does not get the disc, she "hits the rail". In this case, her momentum is taking her to the other sideline. Think "GTFO".
The cutter in the 3 spot has set up for the continuation cut, so is already in position to come in for the first throw.
This cutter is also looked off and can clear to either side, depending on where their cut has taken them. The handler will now look to the force side dump. This handler is crossing the plane of the handler with the disc and ideally getting the disc on the break side.
As this is happening, whichever cutter is on the break side should cut in for a quick upfield throw while the handler's defender is still trailing. The break side handler (5) should be anticipating this, and as 7 gets the disc, 5 is already GTFO, clearing to the far sideline through the dead zone.
Reversing back to Step 12, if the force side handler can't get open on that break side cut, they can come up line on the force side for a quick dishy and reset the disc from there.
As the force side handler is getting that upline dishy, the next cut downfield has been setting up an upfield throw.
The cutter receives the disc, and we flow.
Let's reset one more time.
If we call "TUPELO!", that means the far cutter from the break side (in this case cutter 1) sweeps straight across to the force side. Notice cutters 2 and 3 immediately GTFO downfield, one of them setting up for the next continuation cut.
And the continuation.
