Positions: 1 is the monster, always marking. 2 & 3 are the ears, providing support to the monster (taking away throwing lanes). 4 & 5 are the wings, shutting down continuations and wide throws. 6 is the mid-mid, covering O players behind the monster. 7 is the deep, taking away long throws.
Mid-mid can play close to the monster or deep, depending on the O set up.
The ears should try to shut down upfield throwing lanes, swings should be lateral or backwards.
On a swing, the monster continues to mark, shading towards the sideline.
When fully on the sideline, it becomes a sideline trap:
Monster forces sideline, inside ear takes away the dump, and sideline ear takes away downfield throws/crashes. The mid-mid will pinch in to take away short throws through the middle.
The trap-side wing will respond to the O and their ear to take away throws down the line. Break side wing and the deep patrol for over the top throws.
