This is how the Offense should set up. Take note that the mids are lined up vertically rather than horizontally. The wings on the other hand are as close to the sideline as possible.
2-4-4 rule. 2 - Downfield 4 - Break 4 - Open. Go over, go through or go around.
First look, downfield. Throw it if you can hit it easily.
Reset.
If you can't hit the first look. Your next look will be the break side.
Reset.
If all options are difficult to throw to, throw the easy open swing. Notice that the open side handler is as far forward as the defence allows him/her to.
Reset.
Front popper should be staying really close (about an arms length away) from the cup. Essentially that means the first 4 players has a diamond shaped formation.
Do not be afraid to crash all the way into the cup to get the easy pass off the handler.
Once the popper gets the disc, he/she will then make a decision based on the 2-4-4 priority. If the popper decides to skip the first 2 options and go straight for the easy open throw, that is fine too.
If the popper does that, then he/she should throw and follow through with it to get the easy pass off the handler so that the frisbee remains off the sideline or closer to the middle of the field
The back popper then time the cut and look to get it off the front popper.
If the back popper is covered, then we reset it as per normal while waiting for the easy option to present itself.
The cup may have been set by then and the front popper can then decide based on the 2-4-4 again.
Remember that there is always a reset handler that is staying behind the disc. Look for that person as your go-to if you run out of options because that person will do whatever is needed to get the disc off you.
If all options are covered, turn around and dump it off backwards.
If we dump it off backwards, look to swing it to the breakside ASAP.
Reset.
The far side handler should be attacking the disc and be aware of defenders poaching in that area.
Reset.
Front popper should recognise the swing and time the cut for the continuation pass.
Wings can then time the cut off the poppers and get the continuation pass of the poppers.
The wings may not touch the disc as often but it is important for the wings to stay wide and create space for the middle poppers.
