Step by step 9 steps
  1. Step 1

The Arrowhead is a zone we will be using to try to slow down teams that like to huck the disc.

  2. Step 2

As the disc swings, the chase puts on a straight up force, with the points of the arrow working to prevent any directly forwards throws. The upfield players need to be marking tightly to make forward throws difficult. We allow sideways throws - moving the disc across the field without gaining yards is an acceptable outcome.

  3. Step 3

When the disc reaches the sideline, we put on a trap. The chasing mark switches to force to the sideline. The arrowhead rotates so that the nearest point takes away the upline and the furthest point marks out the dump. The middle steps in to take away any I/O passes and farside wing should take this opportunity to cheat across into the middle of the field,

  4. Step 4

The 'middle' (Player 4 in the diagram) is the most important player in this setup. They are responsible for getting a bid on anything that is thrown over or through the arrow.

  5. Step 5

The wings and deep need to be talking to the middle and letting them know about incoming players.

  6. Step 6

As players move through the central zone, the middle needs to be able to switch onto them as necessary.

  7. Step 7

If the disc does swing to the sideline, the wings should not get sucked in to the disc - their job is to prevent an upfield throw.

  8. Step 8

If the points get there early, they can put a force on...

  9. Step 9

But they should reset once the chase gets there.
