Step by step 18 steps
  1. Step 1

Standad vertical stack handler setup, with the dump on the open side. This is how I like to set up when the disc is anywhere on the break 2/3rds of the field.

  2. Step 2

When the disc is on the open 1/3rd of the field, I like to have the dump set up on the break side, further away, and horizontal to the thrower.

  3. Step 3

OPEN SIDE SETUP: at a stall count of 4 thrower finds eye contact with dump. the dump player uses a "read and react" system to make their cut, based on what their mark does. If their mark stops the upline cut, they can cut to the breakside.

  6. Step 6

If their marks stops the break side cut, they can cut upline, often without even faking. The key here is for the thrower to throw early.

  7. Step 7

Which puts them in a great power position.

  8. Step 8

BREAK SIDE DUMP: at stall count 4 the thrower finds eye contact with the dump. The dump then runs hard directly towards the thrower for a few steps before powering upline.

  10. Step 10

If the dump can get in front of their mark within 1 or 2 steps (as shown) , this is a great cut.

  11. Step 11

If the cut is shutdown by their mark (as shown)

    123123
  12. Step 12

They can cut 180° back and take an easy dump into space.

    123123
  13. Step 13

Which can often lead to an easy swing, either from front of stack, or from further downfield.

  14. Step 14

Another option for the breakside dump is to alway cut upline, and if they aren't open then the front of stack cuts back for the dump.
