Set up in Horizontal stack, we will play this only when the handler has the disc in the middle (i.e. when a handler in the position on BLUE 5 has the disc). The force in this set up is forehand
The first step is exactly the same as our standard horizontal stack set where cutters cut in a diamond formation. BLUE 1 takes 2 steps under before cutting to the break side (left side of the field) and BLUE 2 begins to cut deep. The 2 wing cutters (BLUE 3&4) should begin to move up the field with the play
In SPLIT the open side cutter (BLUE 1) will make the break side cut as in normal Horizontal stack offense - however instead of clearing to the clearing to the center cutter position he/she will continue the breakside cut - clearing all the way to the side line creating a split stack
BLUE 2 cuts under (same as normal Horizontal stack offence) as BLUE 2 cuts under the open side wing (BLUE 3) should begin their deep cut which should be vertical towards the endzone along the sideline
In order to maintain enough players infront of the disc one of the handlers should join the right side stack. As the play develops the two side stacks should continue to move up the field waiting for their turn to cut. Cuts should cascade so that the next cut always comes from the opposite side of the field to the previous cut helping to keep the disc in the centre of the field. Cutters should cut vertically deep and then under diagonally across the field to the opposite sideline.
BLUE 3 Cuts diagonally across the centre towards the centre of the field receiving the disc close to the centre.
Having released the disc BLUE 2 should clear to the side of the field with least players (in this case to the right side of the field). The next cut should come from the opposite side of the field to the previous cut so in this case BLUE 4 cuts from the left side of the field diagonally across the centre to the right sideline.
If for any reason the disc isn't thrown the cutter should IN NO WAY stop the cut or slow down they should continue they're cut all the way to the opposite side line. The next cut comes from the opposite sideline to the previous cut, in this case from BLUE 7 from the right-side line cutting diagonally across the centre of the field to the left side-line. [NOTE ALL CUTS SHOULD BE SET_UP WITH A STRAIGHT DEEP CUT TOWARDS THE ENDZONE)
BLUE 7 Receives the disc, BLUE 3 clears to the side-line with least players i.e. left sideline.
NOTE THIS CLOSE TO THE END ZONE IT IS HELPFUL FOR MORE PLAYERS TO STAY OUT OF THE ENDZONE - as can be seen Blue 3 and Blue 4 have both cleared out to the side line but have not entered the endzone. IT IS HELPFUL FOR CUTTERS IN THE ENDZONE TO SET UP A VERTICAL STACK IN THE CENTRE OF THE ENDZONE as seen by BLUE 1 and 2
