Handler 2 has the disc on the sideline on the force sideline (trap sideline). 2 has two options: he can look to swing the disc to 1 or try to break the mark to the ACE position, player 3. It is at the discretion of player 2 which throw they are going to make, but usually it is easiest/best to try to swing the disc to player 1. Player 1 is set up a few yards upfield from the disc and 7-8 yards away from the disc towards the center of the field. Player 2 is going to make a throw to space so that player 1 can catch the disc with their momentum taking them laterally across the field. This lateral momentum will make the continuation pass to the ACE much easier and quicker so that the defense does not have time to catch up. When the disc starts on the sideline, the last cutter in the stack, 7, will cut open side as a decoy. We are not looking to get the disc to 7 because it keeps us trapped on the sideline and doesn't allow us to take advantage of huge break space to the left of the field. 7 sells his cut under and clears hard back into the front portion of the stack behind the ACE.
Scenario #1: 2 throws the disc to space for player 1. The ACE (player 3) times a cut to the breakside to get the swing from 1.
1 swings around to 3. As 3 is cutting to get the swing, the last cutter in the stack, now 6, is setting up a cut to the breakside for 3, either deep or under depending on what they think will work
3 gets the disc and should see 6 make their break either under or deep and be able to immediately get the disc to 6. The now last cutter in the stack, 5, is cutting off of 6, again either under or deep.
6 gets the disc and looks to continue to 5, in this case, for the goal.
Goal! As the disc is advanced upfield with each throw, it is crucial that both the handlers and cutters remaining in the stack are pushing upfield and getting in position to be the next cutter. There should always be a cutter making a cut and then someone setting their cut off of that cut(called pair cutting).
